<image:title>Pudendal Neuralgia Association Conference & Events - Suzanne M. Alton, BSN, RNC-OB, Senior Clinical Nurse II</image:title>
<image:caption>In 1988, I earned my Bachelors of Science degree in Nursing from University of Maryland School of Nursing in Baltimore, Maryland. I began my nursing career at Johns Hopkins Hospital on a med/surge unit. In 1989, I left to pursue a career as a Labor and Delivery nurse at University of Maryland Medical Center. I spent the first 29 years in Labor and Delivery as an Advanced Certified Inpatient Obstetric bedside nurse, charge nurse, Certified Childbirth Educator and led the IVF program on our unit. In 2018, severe Pudendal Neuralgia pain prevented me from taking care of patients physically, so I had to take a three-month leave of absence. This and other chronic pain conditions have greatly affected my personal life with my family as well as my professional career. After my leave of absence, I returned to a new role as the Labor and Delivery Operating Room resource nurse.</image:caption>
